ATIO PREREQUISITE EXAMS

Individuals who wish to join ATIO or ATIO Professionals who would like to expand their professional qualifications must pass two prerequisite exams. Certified Affiliates must pass the Code of Ethics exam only.

The prerequisite exams consist of a Language Proficiency Exam and a Code of Ethics Exam.

ATIO ENTRANCE EXAMS

Registrants who pass both prerequisite exams will be invited to apply in the language combination for which they wrote the exams.

Approved applicants in translation are required to sit for the ATIO Entrance Exam. Successful applicants are then admitted to ATIO as a Candidate for Certification and are eligible to sit for the CTTIC Translation Certification Exam. Please know that passing the Entrance Exam does not make you a Certified ATIO Member. There is no Entrance Exam required for applicants in interpreting or terminology.

The Entrance Exams are held between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in Ottawa, Toronto, and between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. online on the following dates:

ATIO PRACTICE EXAM

This exam provides translators the opportunity to practice writing an exam in similar conditions to the CTTIC Certification Exam. Click here for more details on the Practice Exam.

Candidates for Certification can choose to write the Practice Exam at home or during a scheduled Practice Exam between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the following dates (non-ATIO members may not write the Practice Exam at home):

Only Candidates for Certification in good standing with the Association may register for the CTTIC Certification Exam in their professional category and language combination.
