The Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) is proud to announce the implementation of the e-stamp, a key step in modernizing our certification practices and enhancing service delivery for both members and the public.

This secure digital stamp is an alternative to the traditional physical stamp, allowing ATIO-certified translators to authenticate documents electronically. The e-stamp offers increased convenience, flexibility, and security, enabling members to certify work while reducing delays and administrative burdens. With built-in encryption and traceability, it also protects against stamp misuse and ensures the continued integrity of certified translations.

This innovation is part of ATIO’s ongoing commitment to supporting our members with practical tools, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and public trust. Is the e-stamp secure?

Yes. Documents uploaded to ATIO’s servers are encrypted and can only be accessed with the verification code or QR code on the document.

Does the e-stamp replace existing ATIO ink stamps or embossing seals?

No. Existing ATIO ink stamps and embossing seals remain valid and can continue to be used by Certified Translators. ATIO will continue to issue ink stamps and embossing seals to Certified Translators who request them.

What does a document with the ATIO e-stamp look like?

Translations using the ATIO e-stamp contain certain key features, such as a verification code and QR code. Translators can also add their contact information, signature, and personal logo if they wish. Every translation that uses the e-stamp begins with a cover page with a translator’s statement, with the translation and source (original) document following on the subsequent pages.

How do I verify the authenticity of a translation using the ATIO e-stamp?

There are three ways to verify the authenticity of the ATIO e-stamp:

  1. If you have the original PDF file generated by the translator, you can upload it in the field labelled “Translation Document” and then click “Check Digital Stamp.”
  2. Enter the verification code in the field labelled “Verification Code (case sensitive)” and then click “Check Verification Code.”
  3. Scan the QR code located at the bottom of each page of the translation.

If the translation is genuine, a green checkmark will appear on the page along with information about the translation. Make sure that the information matches the translation you have received.
